Care at a glance
The saddleback clownfish is dark brown to black with a broad, saddle-shaped white band across the middle of the body and a narrower bar behind the head. In the wild it does not live on the reef itself but on sand flats, alongside anemones that anchor themselves in the substrate.
It grows somewhat larger and more assertive than the familiar clownfish and defends its corner firmly. Keep it as a pair in a spacious tank, provide an open sand bed and do not combine it with other clownfish species.
