Care at a glance

Bacopa monnieri is one of the easiest stem plants around: small, succulent round leaves on a creeping stem that grows both submerged and emersed. In traditional medicine the plant has been known for centuries as brahmi.

It makes few demands on light or CO2 and will keep growing even in an unheated or dimly lit tank, though growth stays slow there. Trim the tops regularly and replant them in the substrate to get a full bush rather than a single long stem.
