Care at a glance

Downoi forms low rosettes of strongly crinkled, serrated leaves that lie on the substrate like little green stars. The name comes from Thai and means something like 'little star', which describes the effect exactly.

It asks for strong light and a nutrient-rich substrate, and with CO2 it grows more compact and a more intense green. New side shoots can be cut off and planted separately; that is how you build a small field of stars over the months.
