Care at a glance
Staurogyne grows as a low, widely branching little shrub with firm, bright green leaves and stays low enough for the foreground or the transition to the midground. Unlike most carpeting plants it forms no runners but creeps sideways with branching stems.
It is less demanding than it looks and grows without CO2 too, albeit more slowly. Trim it back regularly: every trim produces new side shoots and therefore a denser, more compact cushion.
