Care at a glance

Bacopa has thick, slightly succulent leaves set in pairs around a sturdy stem; crush a leaf and you smell a distinct lemon scent. It grows upright and slowly, which makes it a calm, reliable background plant.

Under plenty of light the tips colour coppery brown to reddish; in shade they stay green. It is undemanding and needs no CO2; cut the tops and replant them to make new stems.
