Care at a glance
The rainbow shark from the river basins of Thailand is not a shark but a carp relative; the name comes from its tall dorsal fin and streamlined shape. It is velvet black with fiery red fins and patrols mainly along the bottom.
It tolerates no others of its kind and also harasses bottom fish of similar shape, so keep exactly one. Give it a long tank with caves, wood and stones so it can claim a territory and others have room to move away.
