Care at a glance
The kenyi cichlid shows a colour split rarely this stark among mbuna: males turn bright blue, while females and juveniles stay yellow with dark bars — early aquarists even thought they were two different species.
Among mbuna it counts as one of the fiercest, so the same recipe as other Malawi cichlids applies: one male to three or four females, plenty of stacked rock with hiding spots, and a large stocking level to spread the aggression rather than let it fix on a single victim.
