Care at a glance

The haddoni carpet anemone is a true host anemone with an enormous, flat carpet of short, extremely sticky tentacles. It buries its foot deep in the sand down to the rock and then spreads into a disc that can cover a good part of the bottom.

Its adhesive power is notorious: small fish, shrimp and even careless hands stick to it. Only keep it in a large, long-established tank with strong lighting, a deep sand bed and clownfish that accept it as a host.

Good to know

  • Potent sting — keep distance in the tank
  • Outgrows most home tanks
  • Preys on shrimp and snails
  • Needs a mature, stable tank
