Care at a glance

The forktail blue-eye from Papua New Guinea is a small, yellow-green fish with strikingly blue-glowing eyes and black-and-yellow edged fins. Males display to each other all day with fins raised, which makes for a lively picture.

It is an excellent jumper, so a tight-fitting cover is no unnecessary luxury with this species. Keep it in a group in clear, slightly harder water with planting and fine food; large or boisterous tankmates do not suit it.

Good to know
