Care at a glance
The threadfin rainbowfish from New Guinea and northern Australia is small and translucent, but the males carry elegant, thread-like extensions on the dorsal, pelvic and anal fins. When displaying they spread them like fans, which makes for one of the finest spectacles in a nano tank.
It has a small mouth and therefore needs very fine food, and it cannot cope with fin nippers: those threads are an easy target. Keep it in a calm group in clear, warm water with planting and little flow.
