Care at a glance

The solar fairy wrasse from Indonesia has a deep red front that shifts to blue-purple towards the rear, with a sharp boundary between the two colours. Males show those colours at their strongest during display, shooting through the tank with every fin raised.

It is peaceful towards other fish, but it can be dominant towards other fairy wrasses; so keep a single male in the tank. Feed several small portions a day and cover the tank completely, because this group jumps straight out when startled.
