Care at a glance

The rosy tetra from the coastal rivers of the Guianas is translucent pinkish red with a black-marked dorsal fin. Males are recognisable by their greatly extended, sail-like dorsal, which they raise wide when displaying.

It looks its best over a dark substrate, with a few floating plants to soften the light. Keep it in a school with both sexes, because it is exactly the males' display towards each other that makes it fun to watch.
