Care at a glance
The panda garra from the mountain streams of Myanmar's Rakhine State is banded in black and white with orange fin edges and has a sucker mouth with which it holds on in the current. It grazes biofilm and film algae off stones and wood all day.
It needs cooler, flowing and oxygen-rich water with smooth boulders; in a warm, still tank it wastes away. Among themselves they stake out territories and display vigorously, so keep a small group in a long tank with enough stones to divide the space.
