Care at a glance
The columbian tetra combines the size and calm of a community fish with strikingly bright colours: a silvery body with red fins that almost glow under good lighting. It is larger and sturdier than most tetras, which also makes it a better fit for a tank with somewhat bigger tankmates.
In a school of at least six it swims relaxed through the midwater and fills out a larger tank nicely. It is not fussy about water values and eats almost anything, which makes it one of the easiest tetras to keep despite its striking looks.
