Care at a glance

The long tentacle anemone has long, slender tentacles on an orange to red column, which it buries deep in the sand down to the rock. Only its crown of tentacles rises above the substrate, which gives a very different look from anemones that sit on rock.

It is one of the easier host anemones and is accepted by several clownfish species. Give it a deep sand bed to anchor itself in, moderate lighting and gentle flow, and screen your pump intakes.

Good to know

  • Potent sting — keep distance in the tank
  • Digger — needs fine sand
  • Needs a mature, stable tank
