Care at a glance
The Koran angelfish owes its name to the crescent-shaped white lines on juveniles, in which people traditionally saw Arabic script. Adults look completely different: greenish brown with fine spots and a blue-rimmed tail.
It grows very large and therefore needs a show-sized aquarium; the juveniles in shops give a misleading impression. In the wild it eats sponges and tunicates, which makes it an unsafe choice for a reef tank with corals.
