Care at a glance

The glowlight danio from Myanmar is one of the smallest danios: a slender copper-orange fish with a blue-purple sheen along the flank and yellow-edged fins that seem to glow under the right lighting. It swims actively and constantly, just like the rest of the family.

As a small, fast swimmer it makes a fine community fish for a calm, densely planted tank alongside other peaceful small species, provided the lid fits tightly — danios jump at the slightest fright. Keep it in a decent school; too few individuals leaves it skittish and its colours less vivid.
