Care at a glance

The bumblebee goby from South-East Asia is a small, stocky goby with black and yellow bars. It comes from coastal waters where fresh and salt water mix; many keepers therefore give it slightly brackish water, in which it clearly does better.

It usually refuses dry food and wants small live or frozen foods, so it is not suited to a busy community tank where it loses out. Give each fish its own little cave or stone: they stake out small territories and display to each other without doing real damage.

Good to know

  • Hard to wean onto dry food
