Care at a glance
Blastomussa merleti, the "pineapple blasto", is the smaller cousin of the better-known Blastomussa wellsi: its polyp heads sit more tightly packed and have a finer, more pineapple-like texture than the larger, rounded heads of the standard form.
Care differs little from its larger relative: subdued light and weak flow are enough, so it does well low in the tank too. That combination of easy care and a slightly different, finer look makes it a rewarding addition alongside the classic blastomussa for anyone wanting both forms in their collection.
