Care at a glance
Blastomussa forms a colony of thick, fleshy polyps on short calices, often in warm combinations of red, green and orange. When the polyps are well inflated you can barely see any of the skeleton beneath.
It likes subdued light and gentle flow and therefore does well low in the tank, where many other corals struggle. It is peaceful towards neighbours and grows slowly but steadily; the occasional small meaty feeding noticeably speeds that up.
