Care at a glance
The black phantom tetra from the Guaporé and Paraguay basins is smoky grey with a black shoulder spot rimmed in silver. Males carry large, sail-like fins and are darker; females stay smaller but have reddish fins.
Males stage busy mirror duels, lying side by side with every fin spread: impressive to watch and completely harmless. So keep several males within the group, and give them a planted tank with some open swimming space.
