Care at a glance

The bicolor angelfish is bright yellow at the front and deep blue at the back, with a blue bar above the eye: one of the most striking colour combinations on the reef. It comes from lagoons and sheltered slopes in the western Pacific.

It grazes film algae off the rock all day, but in many tanks it also nips coral polyps and clams, so in a mixed reef it is a risk. Keep one, give it plenty of grown-in rock and caves, and note that it has long had a reputation for being sensitive to shipping.
