Care at a glance
The crinkled aponogeton grows from a bulb and produces long, translucent leaves with strongly wavy margins that move through the water like ribbons. It comes from Sri Lanka and can flower underwater: a spike appears above the surface.
It is surprisingly easy and mainly asks for a nutrient-rich substrate and to be left alone; frequent moving does not suit it. After a period of strong growth it may drop its leaves and take a rest; leave the bulb in place, and it will sprout again by itself within a few weeks.
