Care at a glance
Water wisteria stands out for its deeply cut, fern-like leaves, although that shape changes greatly with conditions: under low light or grown emersed the leaves become broad and hardly divided. That can make the plant barely recognisable between two aquariums.
It grows extremely fast and takes up a lot of nutrients while doing so, which makes it an excellent tool against algae in a new tank. Trim it back regularly and replant the tops; it can grow either planted or floating.
