Ludwigia is a sturdy stem plant with oval leaves that are green on top and coppery to wine red underneath. Under plenty of light the whole plant colours a deeper red; in shade it stays mostly green.
It is rewarding and undemanding, but for good colour strong light and enough iron in the fertiliser help. Trim the tops regularly and replant them; that keeps the plant compact and prevents bare, stretched stems at the bottom.
