Care at a glance

The scoly is a single, large polyp that lies on the bottom like a fleshy disc, often with spectacular colour rings of red, green and orange. It does not form colonies: it remains one animal, slowly growing in diameter.

It comes from deeper, shaded water and therefore needs little light and gentle flow; too much light actually washes out its colours. Place it on sand or a flat piece of rock and feed it a small piece of meaty or fish food in the evening now and then.
