Care at a glance
The neon dwarf rainbowfish comes from the Mamberamo basin in New Guinea and radiates a metallic blue that almost glows under side lighting. Males are deeper-bodied with red-orange fins, while females keep yellowish fins.
It is an active schooling fish that needs open swimming space along the front and only colours up fully after a few months. Hard tap water is no problem for it, which makes it an easy choice in many regions; do keep it in a group and with equally active, not too small tankmates.
