Care at a glance

The leopard bush fish from the Congo basin is brownish yellow with dark blotches, which makes it nearly invisible among leaves and roots. It drifts through the water at an angle, slow as a stray leaf, until prey comes close enough and it strikes with surprising speed.

Anything that fits in its mouth is eventually eaten, so combine it only with fish that are clearly too large. Give it a dim, densely furnished tank with wood and leaf litter, and feed meaty or frozen food in the evening.

Good to know

  • Active at night
  • Preys on shrimp and snails
