Care at a glance
The foxface is a large, bright yellow rabbitfish with a striped pointed snout and an enormous appetite for algae. It is one of the few fish that seriously tackles hair algae and even bryopsis, which often makes it the answer for a tank stuck in an algae bloom.
Two things matter. First, it is venomous: the spines in the dorsal fin deliver a painful sting, so be careful when catching it or working in the tank. Second, when hungry it may switch to coral, usually zoanthids and LPS. So feed nori daily. When startled it turns blotchy brown — that is normal and fades on its own.
