Care at a glance
Borelli's dwarf cichlid from the Paraguay and Paraná basins has a yellow head with a blue sheen and a dorsal fin it spreads like a fan. Coming from a subtropical region, it tolerates lower temperatures than most dwarf cichlids.
It is one of the most peaceful apistogrammas and therefore fits well in a planted community tank with small, calm fish. Give it one small cave per female, a soft substrate and some leaf litter; beyond that it is not fussy about water values.
