Care at a glance
The yellowtail damselfish from the western Pacific is bright blue with a vivid yellow tail and stays small. It is one of the most peaceful damsels, which does not mean it lacks character: it picks a hole in the rock and defends it against anyone who comes too close.
It is hardy, eats almost anything and is therefore one of the easiest first fish for a reef tank. Keep one, or a small group in a spacious tank with plenty of rock structure so that each fish can claim its own corner.
