Care at a glance
The upside-down catfish from the Congo basin does exactly what its name promises: it swims inverted most of the time, often right under a leaf or an overhanging piece of wood. Its colouring matches that habit, because unlike almost every other fish its belly is darker than its back.
It is most active in the evening and at night and seeks shelter by day, so give it wood, caves and some floating plants. Keep it in a small group, as single fish stay virtually invisible.
