Care at a glance
The starry blenny is dark brown, sprinkled with white dots, with fringed appendages above the eyes and a blunt, rounded head. It hops from rock to rock and constantly scans its surroundings with mobile eyes.
It is a genuine algae eater that scrapes hair algae and film off the rock all day and therefore needs a well-grown tank. Supplement with algae sheets and keep one per tank; towards other algae-eating blennies it is distinctly territorial.
