Care at a glance
Fissidens is a fine, feather-shaped moss that grows in short, dense tufts and looks under water like small green plumes. It stays low and compact and grows slowly, which makes it one of the prettiest mosses for dressing wood and stone in an aquascape.
Tie or glue small tufts onto wood or rock and be patient; it takes months to attach. It likes cool to moderate water, low to medium light and clean conditions, and needs no CO2. Keep debris from settling on it: a shrimp or two keeps it clean.
