Panda cory

Care at a glance

The panda cory takes its name from the black eye patch and the black spot at the tail base on a cream-white body. It is one of the smallest and busiest corydoras species: in a group it pootles about visibly on the bottom all day rather than hiding away.

It comes from cooler mountain streams than most corydoras and does not care for tropical warmth in the long run. More importantly: give it fine sand, not sharp gravel. Corydoras find food by running their barbels through the substrate, and on sharp material those wear down and become infected. Make sure food actually reaches the bottom, too — up above, the others eat everything first.
