Care at a glance
Norman's lampeye from West Africa is a small, translucent fish whose upper eye glows bright blue, as if a little lamp were switched on inside. The effect is strongest under side lighting and against a dark background.
It is peaceful and small, and that is exactly what makes it vulnerable at feeding time: faster or larger tankmates take everything before it gets a chance. Keep it in a good-sized school in a calm, planted tank with floating plants and feed very fine food.
