Care at a glance
The moonlight gourami from Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam is an even silvery white with fine scale patterning that shimmers in side light like moonlight on water. Displaying males develop orange-red pelvic filaments, which they use to feel their surroundings.
It builds a bubble nest and likes to work plant material into it, so finely planted corners are appreciated. It is large but gentle and rather shy; give it calm company, warm water and floating plants to shelter beneath.
