Care at a glance

Micro sword is the lawn among aquarium plants: narrow, light green blades of a few centimetres that form an even turf on runners. It is less demanding than HC Cuba but does need patience; it easily takes three months for loose clumps to close up.

Plant small tufts of a few blades close together in fine substrate, give plenty of light and preferably CO2, otherwise it stays thin. The grass tolerates fairly cool water and a light current well. Mow it now and then with scissors to about three centimetres to keep the turf low and compact.
