Care at a glance
The twig catfish looks strikingly like a thin branch: long, brown and with a pointed snout, which makes it almost invisible among wood and stems. It spends most of the day hanging motionless on a branch or the glass, grazing the film that grows there.
It is a sensitive fish that needs a mature, well-grown tank with stable, oxygen-rich water and enough natural growth. Supplement with blanched vegetables and make sure fast tankmates do not crowd it out at feeding time; in a new or bare tank it slowly starves.
