Care at a glance
The demasoni cichlid is a small mbuna from a restricted rocky area in Lake Malawi, with sharply defined dark and light blue bars. Despite its size, it is one of the fiercest mbuna towards its own kind.
The standard approach is counter-intuitive: keep plenty of them together, so aggression is spread across the whole group rather than focused on one fish. Feed vegetable-based food and go easy on protein-rich items, as rich food quickly causes digestive trouble in mbuna.
