Care at a glance

The blue reef chromis from the Caribbean is a brilliant blue with dark-edged tail lobes and in the wild swims in large shoals above the reef, picking plankton from the current. In the aquarium it holds in open water and keeps a tank looking alive.

Keep it in a group, but be prepared for such a group to thin out over the months to a few dominant fish; that is part of the pecking order in this species. Feed several small portions a day and provide flow and open swimming space.
