Care at a glance

Sympodium forms a thin crust over rock from which short polyps rise, usually in a striking blue-green. It is an octocoral: each polyp has eight feathery tentacles, clearly visible up close or with a magnifier.

It is easy to keep under moderate light and moderate flow and spreads steadily across the rock. Keep a distance from vulnerable neighbours, because it overgrows adjacent corals without mercy; placing it on a separate rock works best.
