Care at a glance
The sea hare is a large, soft sea slug with two tentacles that recall the ears of a hare. It is bought mainly as an emergency measure against a hair algae outbreak, since it grazes away astonishing amounts in a short time.
That is exactly where the problem lies: once the algae are gone it starves, and under severe stress or on dying it can release a purple ink cloud or toxins that can foul a tank. So treat it as temporary help, screen your pump intakes and arrange a good next home once the job is done.
