Care at a glance

The green clown goby is a small, stocky goby with a green body and fine red streaks that prefers to sit among the branches of a branching coral and watch the world all day. At four centimetres it is one of the smallest marine fish you can buy and a regular resident of nano reefs.

It is entirely peaceful towards other fish, but a pair lays its eggs on the branches of acropora and gnaws the tissue away to do so, which can damage an SPS coral. In a tank without SPS that is no problem. Feed small frozen food such as cyclops and mysis, and give it a coral or artificial coral with branches to shelter in.
