Care at a glance
The coco worm builds a hard, calcareous tube and unfolds from it a double, spiral fan that may be brilliant white, orange or red. Unlike the ordinary feather duster it has a solid, permanent housing into which it can withdraw completely.
It depends entirely on fine suspended food, so in a clean reef tank you must feed it deliberately with plankton or filter feeds. Wedge it firmly between rocks with the opening in moderate flow, and keep water parameters stable.
