Care at a glance
The leleupi is the bright yellow cichlid of Lake Tanganyika, a slender rock dweller that lights up like a lamp on light sand among pale stones. Over a dark substrate and dark decor the yellow darkens to brownish, so the layout decides how good it looks.
It is a true cave breeder that claims a crevice or cave and defends it against everything, including fish twice its size. Keep a pair or a single specimen in hard, alkaline water with plenty of rocks and combine it with other Tanganyika species such as julidochromis and shell dwellers. It takes frozen food and granules and asks little as long as the water stays stable.
