Duncan coral

Care at a glance

The duncan coral is one of the few LPS you can recommend to a beginner without hesitation: green polyps with an orange mouth on long white stalks, which multiply in good conditions by budding new heads at the base. A frag of three heads can be ten within a year.

It is also one of the most rewarding corals to feed. Offer it a small piece of mysis or shrimp a couple of times a week and you will see the tentacles close around it immediately — that visibly speeds up growth. It does not sting neighbours and has no sweeper tentacles, so you can place it reasonably close to other corals. Moderate light, moderate flow, and little else to ask for.
